If the Nile is Egypt's lifeline, then sailboats are its blood cells. Since time immemorial ships of one sort or another have been the major form of transportation, carting people and goods up and down its length. These days, 'felucca' sailboats are still used by the local Nubian people, and our three-night felucca cruise is the focal point of this great holiday. We begin our journey in Cairo, with a visit to the timeless pyramids, the nearby Sphinx and the superb Valley Temple. Travelling south to Aswan and meet up with our friendly Nubian crew, spending an evening with their family and friends before we board our feluccas for a memorable ONE-day trip down the Nile. As we sail upstream towards Edfu we stop to visit the stunning Temple of Sobek (the crocodile-headed God) at Komombo, which stands like a silent sentinel on the banks of the river. We also visit the excellent Temple of Horus on arrival in Edfu. Arriving in Luxor we ride donkeys into the Valley of the Kings and the following day we're off to the Red Sea coast for a couple of days of R&R - a great end to our Egypt adventure.
All in all, this trip offers a great mixture of activity, culture and fun!
